Writing for Readers and Reading for Writers

This practical session is designed to give writers a look at the first point of contact between your work and the readers who evaluate them.  Points of discussion include:

Readers' Reports - how are they written, what makes a good or bad report, why some Readers' recommendations are wrong

Feedback - which suggestions are useful and how and when to implement them, how to give feedback on your own work and the work of other writers

Sending Out Your Work - how you know when it's ready to go, what are some methods you can use to give your work the extra distinction it needs, how to make a good story even better.

The session will be led Emma Norton.  Emma reads, evaluates and develops scripts for the Film Council and Scott-Free Films and before that, worked as assistant to a literary agent. She is an active member of Soho's team of script-readers and is responsible for identifying several plays for further development here.
