National Youth Theatre presents
20 cigarettes
by Marcy Kahan
directed by Toby Frow
15 - 30 August 2007

Along with so many facing the reality of the new smoking ban in England, the central character of Oscar Klavier is forced to give up smoking, and finds himself in the psychoanalyst’s chair recalling the 20 most significant cigarettes of his life.

Through witty dialogue and an ensemble of characters, his story unfolds highlighting the changing attitudes through the decades with an ending as satisfying as a post-coital fag!

The NYT has developed this play in the face of the smoking ban to ask how smoking forms part of our identity.
