After a sell out performance in 2009 Andrew Clover returns to Soho Theatre for the final ever performances of DAD RULES
"She says: "Let's have children." I know this is a historic moment. I must respond like a man. So I ignore her."
Based on the Sunday Times column, Dad Rules is a hilarious, feel good mix of stand-up and stories from Andrew Clover, Perrier Nominee, star of My Almost Famous Family (BBC) and regular in Ashes to Ashes (BBC).
Writer, comedian, actor and trophy husband, Andrew Clover is the author of “Dad Rules”, the wildly popular Sunday Times column that chronicles how he changed from a bloke who’s terrified of kids to a father of three young daughters who’s contented and fulfilled - though still somewhat on the edge. He followed this up last this year with “Dad Rules” the Penguin bestseller now in soft back. Andrew Clover is a veteran of five acclaimed Edinburgh shows. His first saw him nominated for the Perrier Best Newcomer Award. 'Set for certain stardom' said The Daily Telegraph.
His second received this five-star review from The Scotsman:
'I’d like to give Andrew Clover all the stars that other acts have thrown away, for his talent, and generosity, his humour, and intelligence, and his willingness to take his clothes off for a laugh'
'Clover is a distinctive and enthusiastic performer, he's clearly enjoying himself and putting his all into sashaying about the stage; a perfect dad he may not be (who is?) but you certainly get the impression that he's a fun one.
Both ends of the child rearing spectrum are covered, the hellishly early mornings and his desire not to turn into his own father, coupled with the surreal role play and a memory that brings about a revelation about his dad; all culminating on a truly magical note as Clover discovers what life is truly about.
Almost makes you want one of your own. Well almost…'
