
Yellow Earth Theatre presents its 4th Typhoon festival. This week is an important and unique event in British theatre, designed to promote the best of contemporary East Asian drama through playreadings directed by distinguished guest directors.
To date, Typhoon has showcased work from new and established writers across 10 East Asian countries. This year, T4 presents work from Vietnam, Malaysia, China, Japan, Korea and from Yellow Earth and Soho Theatre's Yellow Ink initiative which nurtures young British East Asian writers.

East Asian Drama on the Map
A lively debate examining the week's
work and ways of promoting dialogue
between British theatre and East Asian
dramatists. The panel will be made up
from prominent members of the theatre
industry.

The Big Purge by Kee Thian Chye
A politicised satire dealing with racism
in Malaysia. 'He who ate the chilli
knows how hot it is!'
Vietnam
Graveyard for the Living
by Duong Le Guy
In the aftermath of war, luxury flats for
Party officials are to be built over a
mass grave, with haunting
consequences, in this gritty Vietnamese
play reminiscent of Poltergeist.
Korea
In Quest of Love by Kwang Lim Kim
In this satire on modern Korean society,
four insurance agents are investigating
a suicide, but the evidence teaches
them much more than they expect.
China
The Night a Tiger was Captured
by Tian Han
On the eve of his only daughter's
wedding, a tiger-hunter is in pursuit of
a man-eater, but sometimes the
greatest danger is in the last place we
look.
Behind The Lie by Nick Yu
In this story of contemporary China, a
police officer interrogates a psychiatrist
accused of murdering his wife.
