Sean has directed extensively for theatre in London, on Broadway, and further afield, including most recently Aladdin at the Old Vic with Ian McKellan. His productions have been nominated for numerous Olivier and, on Broadway, Tony Awards. He received the Evening Standard and Critics’ Circle Award for both Les Parents Terribles at the National (which, on transferring to Broadway as Indiscretions, was also nominated for nine Tonys) and Design for Living at the Donmar Warehouse and the Gielgud. His feature film of Bent (which he also directed for stage at the National) won numerous awards internationally including La Prix de la Jeunesse at the official Cannes Film Festival (1998).
